As part of the firm’s ongoing response to the unprecedented migrant crisis in Chicago, Winston attorneys and professional staff teamed up to help 10 migrants, who had been bussed to Chicago after crossing the southern border, to file for asylum.
Members of Winston for Good’s newly created Compañeros Corps served as interpreters for our pro bono clients, while Winston attorneys helped them complete their applications for asylum.
“This asylum clinic, which we conducted with the National Immigrant Justice Center, demonstrates the power of collaboration between Winston attorneys and professional staff. Together, we were able to help 10 people take the first step towards permanently escaping devastating situations and establishing a new life in the United States. Thank you to the attorneys and professional staff who devoted a full day to this highly impactful endeavor,” said Maria Kutnick, Pro Bono Counsel.
Winston attorneys who assisted asylum seekers in completing their application included Matt DalSanto, Jess Diedrich, Pat Doyle, Tim Kincaid, Eleni Kouimelis, Jack Lenske, Ari Levy, Natalie Holden, Elise LeCrone, Kurt Mathas, Oriana Pietrangelo, Olga Pototskaya, Ivan Poullaos, Maggie Rick, Matthew Rosen, Jack Shea, Emma Sutton, and Del Todd.
