Mayer Profiled in Wisconsin Lawyer
September 2010
The Wisconsin Lawyer profiled litigation partner Mike Mayer, based in Winston & Strawn's Chicago office, in the September 2010 edition. The article, "After the JD: Careers Seven Years Out of Law School," tracks the career paths of Wisconsin lawyers when they were three and seven years into their careers.
Although the study found that "seven years out, the mega firms are no longer as prominent a setting for lawyers," Mr. Mayer has remained with Winston for the past 10 years, citing a variety of reasons. He states that the firm's mentoring program is one of the key factors that has motivated him to remain with the firm; he is currently a mentor himself. He also discussed his appreciation of having a full-time pro bono coordinator, which makes pro bono assignments easily accessible.
"Sometimes big firms get a bad rap," Mr. Mayer stated, "but the reality is that the resources they provide to younger attorneys are extraordinary."
Mr. Mayer's practice focuses on complex commercial cases, antitrust disputes, class actions, intellectual property cases, securities cases, and white-collar criminal matters and investigations.
