Winston & Strawn’s New York Antitrust / Competition Practice “Highly Recommended” by GCR
November 2013
Winston & Strawn’s New York antitrust/competition practice was “Highly Recommended” by Global Competition Review (GCR) in its November 2013 survey issue. In an article titled “New York’s Competition Bar,” the publication described Winston as having one of “the best antitrust practices in the city.”
Chaired by Jeffrey Kessler, Winston’s New York antitrust/competition practice was noted for its current involvement in approximately ten major cartel investigations and their ensuing private lawsuits. GCR also noted the practice’s handling of five different multidistrict litigations for clients Panasonic, Nippon Seiki and NTN Corporation.
Additional noteworthy representations cited by GCR include those of multiple companies in cathode ray tube and optical disk drive matters, as well as almost half of the defendants in the batteries cartel case. Litigations involving compressors, power cables and potash are also recognized as being spearheaded by antitrust/competition attorneys in New York. Of particular note, in one of only two major civil trials in 2013, Winston acted in a full bench trial regarding credit card companies’ use of arbitration clauses to hinder competition.
Winston’s New York antitrust/competition practice’s “Highly Recommended” ranking adds to a growing list of accolades for the firm’s global antirust/competition practice, with its California and Illinois contingents receiving “Elite” rankings earlier this year.
