Bob Wall is a partner in the Chicago office of the international law firm Winston & Strawn and has practiced in the firm’s corporate department since 1977. He concentrates his practice in securities and mergers and acquisitions transactions. He places a high importance on understanding the economic perspectives of the participants to a transaction.
Mr. Wall’s practice has been nationally recognized and highly ranked by his peers. He was named Best Lawyers’ “2011 Chicago Mergers & Acquisitions Lawyer of the Year.” In addition, in the 2007 through 2012 issues of Chambers USA America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, he was named in the top tier (out of four tiers) for leading corporate/mergers and acquisitions lawyers in Illinois.

Mr. Wall has participated in more than 100 public offerings and 120 publicly disclosed merger and acquisition transactions while at Winston & Strawn. His clients describe him as an outstanding lawyer who pairs his “expertise and knowledge with a practical and solutions-oriented approach,” according to Chambers USA 2007.
His clients have included numerous corporations, highly successful entrepreneurs, investment banking firms, and special board committees. His clients told Chambers Global 2006 that “very little arises that he hasn’t dealt with. Wall doesn’t sit on the fence; he always gives you an answer.”
Recently, he has represented a special committee of the Board of Directors of A.O. Smith Corporation regarding an affiliated acquisition. He also represented the Board of Directors of NAVTEQ Corporation in the sale of the company to Nokia.
Mr. Wall attended the University of Virginia and received a B.A., with distinction, from Northwestern University in 1973. He received a J.D., summa cum laude, from Santa Clara University in 1977, where he was the comments editor for the Santa Clara Law Review.

He also is a member of the board of editors of the Bank and Corporate Governance Law Reporter and is a past chair of Northwestern’s Garrett Institute on Securities Practice.
