Matt Bergmann is a partner in Winston & Strawn’s corporate department who concentrates his practice in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity.

Mr. Bergmann represented Groupon in its recent initial public offering. Mr. Bergmann also represented Echo Global Logistics, InnerWorkings, Morningstar, and Kanbay International in their initial public offerings and InnerWorkings and Kanbay International in their follow-on and secondary offerings. He represented Kanbay International in its acquisition of Adjoined Consulting and in its sale to Capgemini. Mr. Bergmann also represented Archipelago in its sale of Wave Securities to Merrill Lynch.

Mr. Bergmann’s recent private equity experience includes the representation of TreeHouse Foods in its acquisitions of S.T. Specialty Foods from Windjammer Capital Investors and Sturm Foods from HM Capital Partners and the representation of Water Street Healthcare Partners and certain of its portfolio companies in a variety of health care transactions.

The Legal 500 has listed Mr. Bergmann as a leading lawyer in Mergers, Acquisitions, and Buyouts.


Activities

Mr. Bergmann is a member of the firm’s Finance Committee and Associate Evaluation Committee. He serves as President and a member of the Executive Committee of the Rush Associates Board. He also serves as a trustee of the Rush University Medical Center Board of Directors and a member of the Operational Excellence Committee of the Rush University Medical Center Board of Directors.


Education

Mr. Bergmann received a B.B.A., with distinction, from the University of Michigan Business School in 1991.  He received a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 1994.
