Bill Brewer is Co-Chair and Practice Group Leader of the firm’s Global Finance Practice and Head of the firm's New York Finance Practice. He concentrates in the areas of corporate lending and corporate finance.
Mr. Brewer has extensive experience in asset-based, cash flow, leveraged, and other secured lending transactions; acquisition finance; related securities offerings of both equity and debt; and health care financing. In addition, Mr. Brewer routinely represents financial institutions in workouts and restructurings, both in and out of bankruptcy.
Activities
In addition to serving as Co-Chair and Practice Group Leader of the firm’s Global Finance Practice and Head of the firm's New York Finance Practice, Mr. Brewer is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He is also a member of the firm's Corporate Opinion Committee.
Professional Affiliations: Mr. Brewer is a member of the Executive Committee of the Commercial Finance Association, and a member of the Board of Governors of its Education Foundation (as well as its former Campaign Chairperson). Mr. Brewer serves as a Vice Chair of New York’s annual Financial Industries Dinner. He is a frequent speaker and writer, having appeared on PLI (Practising Law Institute), Thomson Reuters LPC Loan Conference, and other industry panels. Mr. Brewer is a member of the American Bar Association and its section of Business Law, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
Charitable/Civic Associations: Mr. Brewer is the former Secretary of the Yale Club of New York City and a former three term member of its governing Council. He is the Co-Chair of the 25th reunion of his Harvard Law School class (and was Co-Chair of his 20th reunion) and a Vice Chair of the 30th reunion of his Yale College class.
Education
Mr. Brewer received a B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude, with distinction, from Yale College in 1983 and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1986.
