Dean Burau is a tax partner in the Chicago office of Winston & Strawn who concentrates his practice on transactional matters.

Mr. Burau advises clients on a variety of corporate and private equity transactional issues, including both public and private taxable and tax-free mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Burau also advises clients in leveraged lease transactions, synthetic lease transactions and project finance. Mr. Burau is also actively involved in the emerging market for financing renewable and alternative energy resources, including solar and wind.

Prior to joining Winston & Strawn, Mr. Burau was a tax consultant at Deloitte & Touche LLP.


Education

Mr. Burau received a B.A. in international business administration, summa cum laude, from Augustana College in 1994. He received a M.B.A. from the University of Illinois in 1998 and a J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1998.
