Monica Moussighi is an intellectual property associate in Winston & Strawn’s Houston office. Ms. Moussighi focuses her practice in patent and trademark litigation matters.

Ms. Moussighi participates in all aspects of intellectual property litigation, including drafting deposition notices; drafting responses to opposing counsel; pre-trial discovery; drafting interrogatories and deposition notices; preparing witnesses for and taking depositions; working with expert witnesses and drafting expert reports; performing prior art searches for invalidating competitor patents; and drafting claim charts for patent infringement assertions. Ms. Moussighi has represented clients in the wireless telecommunications, computer hardware and software, automotive technologies, and food service sectors in connection with complex intellectual property matters. She has experience litigating matters before the TTAB, including the successful representation of Research in Motion in an opposition regarding the registration for CrackBerry. Ms. Moussighi also has extensive experience managing international trademark portfolios.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Moussighi worked in the utility industry as a material evaluating engineer. She also served as a planning engineer, where she was responsible for developing computer models, identifying problems and alternatives, justifying solutions and issuing development plans; analyzing circuit loading and recommended corrective actions; and preparing a final map and associated reports including cost estimates.

Ms. Moussighi is a member of the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association, Houston Young Lawyers Association, and American Bar Association.


Education

Ms. Moussighi received her B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1999 and her Masters of Electrical Engineering (M.E.E.) in 2005, both from the University of Houston. She received her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 2010, where she served as assistant recent developments editor of the Journal of Consumer and Commercial Law.
