On July 21, 2010, President Obama signed into law the "Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act." This legislation marks the most sweeping reforms in the financial industry and Wall Street in over 70 years.
Winston & Strawn attorneys Ed Johnsen, Jerry Loeser, Peter Malyshev, and Wesley Nissen provided an overview of this legislation to the American Institute of CPAs titled "Financial Regulatory Reform...the ABCs for CPAs" during a webinar presented on Tuesday, August 3 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. (Eastern).
The program provided a discussion of:
- The major provisions of the financial reform legislation;
- Issues of special interest to CPAs;
- Key changes affecting investment advisers, private fund managers, and private funds;
- Broker-dealer issues under the Volcker Rule, Section 913, and other relevant provisions; and
- Changes in the regulation of the derivatives markets.
