London’s 2020 Virtual Vacation Scheme Keeps Students Engaged

August 20, 2020
Winston & Strawn’s London office recently held its first-ever Virtual Vacation Scheme. For one week, eight students from different academic backgrounds experienced what life is like for a lawyer at an international law firm. The scheme provided students interested in applying for a firm training contract with hands-on experience across multiple practice areas.
Throughout the week, students were involved in presentations, trainings, and work assignments. They were also given corporate and litigation tasks that helped them gain a better understanding of the type of work assigned to trainees, and to demonstrate their academic skills.
This year’s social event was a virtual murder mystery via Zoom. In this interactive experience, students demonstrated their ability to work and make decisions as a group in a relaxed atmosphere. The event encouraged students to connect with people outside of the firm and engage with others in a fun and social setting. The virtual murder mystery was attended by current trainees, associates, and partners.
