Google petitioned the Federal Circuit for a writ of mandamus, requesting that the Federal Circuit direct the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas to vacate its order denying Google’s motion to transfer and transfer to the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

In orders ruling on two motions to transfer venue to the Northern District of California (N.D. Cal.) in related cases, Judge Albright granted transfer to Defendant Google LLC and denied transfer to Defendant Vivint, Inc.

On March 30, 2022, Judge Albright reconsidered Defendant Google LLC’s (“Google”) motion to sever and stay in Sonrai Memory Ltd. v. Google LLC.

On December 6, 2021, Judge Albright granted Google’s motion for indicative ruling under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 62.1 (“FRCP 62.1”) related to one claim in the patent-at-issue in WSOU Investments LLC d/b/a Brazos Licensing and Development v. Google LLC f/k/a Inc. The appeal is scheduled for October 15, 2022, in front of the Federal Circuit.
