El Cortí Wind Farm Project Named Power Finance Deal of the Year

Winston & Strawn won the Bonds & Loans Latin America 2018 Power Finance Deal of the Year award for its work advising on the proposed senior corporate loan to Greenwind S.A. (a subsidiary of Pampa Energía S.A.) for the financing of the construction, operation, and maintenance of the El Cortí wind farm and associated transmission facilities. This is a “first of its kind” cross-border financing to close under the Macri administration’s RenovAr program—aimed at expanding the renewable energy market in Argentina. The transaction also constitutes the first investment by a major U.S. private equity firm in connection with a transaction under the RenovAr program. Argentina is the third-largest power market in Latin America, and renewable energy currently provides only 1.3 percent of the country’s total energy supply. The El Cortí wind farm will add 98.6 MW to the Argentinean grid.
