Settlement in the 21st Century

Most legal disputes in the U.S. are resolved by agreement, making the study of settlement an urgent project. The Settlement in the 21^st Century Conference—which took place at Winston & Strawn’s Chicago office on April 1, 2022—brought together nationally known legal scholars, lawyers, and judges to focus on the future of civil settlement. The conference featured empirical studies and technological advances, as well as prominent and experienced mediators who will offer perspectives on settlement practices and emerging trends.

The event was organized by faculty at the University of Illinois College of Law and sponsored by the Kimball R. and Karen Gatsis Anderson Center for Advocacy and Professionalism. Partners Kimball Anderson and Cardelle Spangler spoke during the program.
