Steve Grimes Discusses Trade Secrets and Company Data Protection
February 21, 2019
On February 21, Winston & Strawn Partner and Asia Litigation Practice Chair Steve Grimes presented “A Holistic and Pragmatic Approach to Trade Secrets and Corporate Data Protection” at the 46th Global Legal ConfEx & Law Tech Exhibition in Singapore.
Bringing together over 300 in-house counsel, private practitioners, and legal tech professionals, the conference will address operational challenges and solutions for multinationals in relation to IP, technology, data security and privacy, artificial intelligence, and compliance. In a case study session, Steve discussed strategies to protect trade secrets in a holistic, pre-emptive and cost-effective approach, including key factors of risk assessment, preventative measures to minimize the risk of data loss and business disruption, potential pitfalls in trade secret investigations, and legal remedies available both locally and overseas in the event of data theft. Winston was a sponsor of the event.
Leveraging his unique background as a former federal prosecutor and a former Chief Compliance Officer for a Fortune 500 multinational company, Steve assists clients in various industries with sensitive internal investigations, regulatory inquiries, bet-the-company litigation, as well as with building pragmatic compliance and risk prevention programs. While Steve’s practice covers numerous areas, he focuses heavily on trade secret matters. He also co-chairs the firm’s Global Privacy and Data Security Task Force.
