Lauren Gailey
Of Counsel
In her appellate and critical motions practice, Lauren draws upon her extensive clerkship experience to craft legal arguments and write persuasive briefs.
Lauren is a member of Winston’s Appellate & Critical Motions Practice. She is involved in all stages of litigation, from formulating strategy to appellate briefing, and focuses on solving challenging legal problems with creative arguments and persuasive writing. Her experience includes administrative law, patent, tort, antitrust, and constitutional matters that frequently involve complex jurisdictional and procedural issues.
Before joining Winston, Lauren served as a law clerk to Hon. Thomas M. Hardiman (Third Circuit), Hon. Jeffrey S. Sutton (Sixth Circuit), and Hon. David G. Campbell (District of Arizona). In addition to her court work, Lauren assisted Judges Sutton and Campbell in their roles as chairs of the federal courts’ rules committees, working directly with the committees to help develop changes to procedural and evidentiary rules.

Lauren maintains a robust pro bono practice, representing clients in civil rights, immigration, and post-conviction cases.
Lauren is an active member of the philanthropic community, especially in her hometown of Pittsburgh. She currently serves as a member of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s New Leadership Council.
Prior to law school, Lauren produced a television news-talk show in the Pittsburgh market. She was also an accomplished competitive figure skater.

Education
Lauren graduated first in her class from Duquesne University School of Law, where she was executive articles editor of the Duquesne Law Review and research assistant to then-Dean Ken Gormley. As a member of the Appellate Moot Court Board, she wrote the winning brief in Brooklyn Law School’s 2014 Dean Jerome Prince Memorial Evidence Competition.
While in law school, she interned in the U.S. Attorney’s Office and for Hon. Joy Flowers Conti (Western District of Pennsylvania).
Lauren also has a B.S.B.A. in marketing and a B.A. in communication and rhetoric (both summa cum laude) from the University of Pittsburgh.
