Paula Hinton & Lauren Gailey Recognized in Litigator of the Week Column

Winston & Strawn Attorneys Paula Hinton and Lauren Gailey were featured in the Litigator of the Week column by The Am Law Litigation Daily on May 13, 2022.

The recognition stems from their win for client Occidental Petroleum. The Fifth Circuit upheld a summary judgment win in a case where former Ecuadorian employees sought a $265 million portion of a settlement the company reached with Ecuador post-arbitration after the government seized its assets there. The court held that under Ecuadorian law Occidental’s former employees could only share in the profits lawfully reported in the company’s 2006 income taxes, which did not include the later arbitration award.
