On January 13, 2023, Winston & Strawn associates from the firm’s London and Paris offices came together in Paris for the European Talent Development Seminar.
The 34 attendees engaged in a full schedule of interactive sessions designed to help them optimize firm resources, provide guidance on career development and professional skills, and strengthen connections with colleagues.
After a warm welcome from Paris Managing Partner Jérôme Herbet and Chief Talent Officer Lisa McLafferty, formal programming began with a presentation that described the firm’s vision for training, developing, and coaching our people; highlighted recent developments in engagement, training, and well-being; and provided a look ahead into the firm’s strategic objectives for talent development.
The firm’s Director of Coaching and Well-Being Diane Costigan led a fun and enlightening session in which attendees used the DISC assessment to understand their own personality styles and to learn how to better collaborate with different personality types.
Diane and Winston’s Director of Professional Development, Lauren Tierney, facilitated a collaborative working lunch in which the group exchanged ideas and best practices for time and stress management, team building, and leadership, followed by an interactive session that took a deep dive into effective communication strategies for feedback conversations.
The afternoon was focused on career and business development, with Diane moderating a Business Development panel discussion with London Partners Paul Amiss and Ben Bruton, and Paris Partners Maria Kostytska and Annie Maudouit. The day ended with wrap-up discussions on how participants will leverage lessons learned in the upcoming year.
Our valuable, well-attended European Talent Development Seminar was followed by cocktails and dinner at the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme.
