Education, bragging rights, and a colorful goatee are on the line for our Los Angeles office in the Learning Rights Law Center’s (LRLC) Raising the Bar for Education Challenge.
Winston is one of three law firms participating in this inaugural challenge to benefit LRLC’s worthwhile mission to assist students with learning disabilities achieve access to proper services and an appropriate education. The three firms are competing to contribute the most pro bono hours, raise the most money, and donate the most school supplies.
Our LA summer associates came out in force to make LRLC’s Day of Action, the centerpiece of the Education Challenge, a history-making success. Winston’s 29 participants accounted for more than half of the volunteers at this June 8 event, providing pro bono intake assistance for 31 LRLC clients—a new record for one day.
Spurred on by a partner’s pledge to dye his goatee, LA attorneys and staff continue to make generous donations toward Winston’s $10,000 fundraising goal and to collect backpacks and school supplies for the final leg of the challenge, which ends June 29.
