Veronica Major is one of the Chicago office’s greatest assets. She joined Winston 40 years ago as a floor clerk and today she supervises and masterfully orchestrates the impeccable delivery of conference services in Chicago. Just as important, Veronica always has a warm smile and kind words for everyone she interacts with—from Dan Webb to the security guard in the lobby, who credits her with helping him get through his first day on the job.
Veronica’s positive impact extends well beyond Winston—even into prisons. For seven years, Veronica visited the Metropolitan Corrections Center in Chicago on the third Sunday of every month and provided song and prayer ministry to countless grateful men and women. She currently provides ministry at a local nursing home once a month.
Her generosity extends beyond giving freely of her time to making goodie bags for nursing home residents, using her own money for the treats. Veronica also buys Christmas gifts for men and women who are incarcerated to give to their children.
Veronica is an integral member of the Chicago Legal Prep team, which coaches Chicago Legal Prep students once a month on legal negotiation and life skills. “Each month, Veronica provides inspiring and actionable words of wisdom to the students,” said Ken Berry, CSR, and Pro Bono Administrator.
When describing her approach to life, Veronica said, “My ministry is people and I try to be kind to everybody.”
