On the heels of a highly successful on-campus recruiting effort, Winston is pleased to announce that a group of talented 1L students also will be joining the firm’s 2019 Summer Associate Program.
Nine students from the University of Chicago, Columbia, Duke, Harvard, Northwestern, Berkeley, UCLA, and the University of North Carolina law schools will be participating as 1L Leadership Council for Legal Diversity (LCLD) Scholars. This program is designed to strengthen the legal pipeline by expanding the number of opportunities for diverse first-year law students. Winston participants in this program will attend the 1L LCLD Scholars Summit in June in Atlanta with other students from around the country.
For the first time this year, our firm will be welcoming a diverse 1L from Berkeley to participate in our 2019 summer program through Diverse Attorney Pipeline Program (DAPP) Direct, a job placement and career readiness program for 1L women of color. Our DAPP 1L will spend part of her summer in the firm’s Dallas office and part on-site at a client.
These 1Ls will work on a variety of assignments and receive world-class training as part of Winston’s summer program as well as attend a Diverse 1L Roundtable in our Charlotte office. The firm’s 2019 summer associate class also includes 63 2L students. In all, 86 percent of our class comes from the country’s top 25 law schools, and 43 percent are racially/ethnically diverse.
Please visit our Law Students Careers page for more details about Winston’s summer program, which runs from mid-May to mid-July.
