Winston’s diverse attorneys recently gathered in Miami for networking, strategic planning, and learning. A key element in the firm’s wide-ranging diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy, the power-packed event included the following:
- A fireside chat with chairman Tom Fitzgerald, moderated by Kobi Kennedy Brinson, partner and Diversity & Inclusion Committee chair
- A keynote presentation “Building a Multicultural Coalition of the Willing: A Path for a New America” by Wajahat Ali, writer, journalist, playwright, and political commentator
- A diverse corporate counsel panel moderated by Winston partner Chase Cooper
- A diverse partners panel discussion moderated by Winston partner Shawn Obi and featuring partners Tim Kincaid, Laura Petroff, Krishnan Padmanabhan, and Angela Machala
- A conversation on deconstructing microaggressions by Winston partner Angela Smedley and Sylvia James, chief diversity & inclusion officer
- A talk on shifting from imposter syndrome to unconditional self-worth by Dr. Adia Gooden, licensed clinical psychologist, TEDx speaker, author, and podcast host
- A fireside chat with Judy A. Smith, noted crisis manager, lawyer, author, and television producer, moderated by Winston partner Tim Kincaid.
The event also included numerous opportunities for reconnecting with old friends and meeting new colleagues who have joined Winston since our last retreat.
