Winston’s Director of Diversity & Inclusion Sylvia James, a Duke University School of Law alum, spoke to members of Duke’s Black Law Students Association (BLSA) on October 25. This event was part of Duke BLSA’s Professional Development Leadership Program that Sylvia currently co-chairs.
The Duke BLSA program is designed to foster organic, meaningful, cross-generational relationships between current law students and distinguished graduates. Sylvia and seven other law firm and in-house attorneys have committed to visiting Duke twice a year to meet with BLSA students in an informal setting, enabling the students to develop and sustain personal relationships with a core group of BLSA graduates who are committed to supporting students’ professional development.
Going forward, each group of Duke BLSA student leaders will collaborate with the BLSA graduates to lead and perpetuate the Professional Development Leadership Program, which will feature topics relevant to law students at all levels.
