Winston Hosts Annual 1L LCLD Scholars Roundtable

On June 6, nine outstanding 1L LCLD Scholars from across the country, gathered in Chicago for the firm’s annual LCLD Scholars Roundtable. A highlight of the firm’s LCLD Scholars Program, the Roundtable opened with remarks from Partners Bill O’Neil and Cardelle Spangler, and included the following:
- Off the Record: Candid Conversations – a panel discussion, moderated by the firm’s Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer Sylvia James, with Winston Partners Angela A. Smedley and Bryce Cooper; Of Counsel Monica Lopez-Rodriguez; and Associates Amelia Garza-Mattia, Nasir Hussain, and DaWanna McCray-Allen.
- Pathways to Success: Authenticity to Belonging – a presentation by Kori Carew, Chief Catalyst Officer and Founder of Bridge 68 LLC.
- Soliciting and Acting on Feedback – a panel discussion with Partner Eric White and Associates John Drosick, Karly Jung, and Chris Parker, which was moderated by Diversity & Inclusion Specialist Zakiyyah Connelly.
Following an information-packed day, the group boarded the Chicago River Architectural Cruise and learned about the Windy City’s famed architecture. The day of learning and networking concluded with a group dinner at Ema in Chicago’s River North neighborhood.
Winston’s 1L LCLD Scholars program also includes an opportunity to work directly with Winston clients for two-three weeks to gain an understanding of what it’s like to practice law in a corporate setting.
