Winston Participates in Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program Clinic
Blog
July 28, 2017
On July, 25, Winston’s Dallas office participated in a pro bono legal aid clinic run by the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP), an organization that trains and supports volunteer attorneys to provide free legal assistance to low-income individuals. During the clinic, Winston attorneys and summer associates gathered information and provided advice to more than 40 people at or below the federal poverty line. The cases involved landlord tenant issues, tax-related issues, custody battles, probate questions, expunctions, divorce proceedings, and more. Some of those seeking legal advice lined up hours in advance for the clinic. These individuals were enormously thankful for a listening ear, practical legal advice, and the comfort of knowing the lawyers would follow up with them on their cases; the Winston team was humbled by and grateful for the opportunity to serve the Dallas community.
