Winston For Good Volunteers Help Hundreds of Families Start their Summer Camp Experience with the Fresh Air Fund at the Camper Send-Off in New York City

Winston volunteers arrived bright and early in upper Harlem to prepare for an eventful morning with the Fresh Air Fund supporting hundreds of lucky campers eager to depart for their special camping experience in upstate New York. Families arrived with luggage, paperwork, and their excited children to complete the registration process before boarding buses for a summertime camp experience sponsored by the Fresh Air Fund. 

Our Winston Volunteers helped with various logistics to make sure the camp send-off was a memorable and successful experience for all families and campers participating. From greeting and directing families to specific stations, handling a Covid19 testing station, translating questions for anxious parents, and simply exciting the young children headed to camp with questions and smiles of enthusiasm, our dedicated volunteers from Winston NYC made a difference in ensuring the morning festivities were seamless.

Since its founding in 1877, The Fresh Air Fund, a not-for-profit youth development organization, has provided free life-changing summer experiences in the outdoors to more than 1.8 million children from New York City’s underserved communities. At sleepaway camps in New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley, children have new experiences, learn new skills, and gain new perspectives. The Fresh Air Fund has six sleepaway camps and, this summer, the organization expects to serve nearly 2,000 children through these camp programs.

New York Office Managing Partner Mats Carlston has been a longstanding Board Member and advocate of the nonprofit. The Fresh Air Fund is also an established pro bono client of the firm, for which we have provided free legal service on various governance matters and operational questions over the years. This experience was a positive culmination of both our pro bono and social impact work to further support the powerful mission of such an upstanding NYC-based organization.
