Winston’s Annual Effort to Fight Rare Cancers Goes National in 2020
Blog
March 19, 2020
Building on an annual tradition that began in our Chicago office, Winston & Strawn went national for Cycle for Survival with new teams in Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. for 2020.
Now that all of our riders have crossed the finish line, we are proud to announce that Team WINston raised an amazing $91,405 to help Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center win the fight against rare cancers. Our participants across the country brought their inspiration – and a bit of perspiration – to support a worthy cause, backed by tremendous support from the firm, colleagues, and friends.
Special bragging rights go to the San Francisco team, which raised the most funds per firm member in their office. They’ll be enjoying a celebratory lunch soon.
A number of our team leaders offered their perspectives on what Cycle for Survival means to them:
“As a celebration of the Chicago office’s fifth year raising money for Memorial Sloan Kettering, it was wonderful to see other Winston offices join the fight to beat rare cancers and participate in Cycle for Survival. It makes me very proud to be a part of such an incredible place with such special people.” – Chicago Partner Tim Kincaid
“The excitement we felt supporting this important cause brought us closer to our colleagues in our office, and our riders also felt a connection with others in the room pounding with motivational music. We will proudly participate in the coming years.” – Dallas Partner Mark Werbner
“Participating in Cycle for Survival was exceptional. It’s the rare event that not only raises money for a necessary cause but also creates a lasting bond of purpose and teamwork among participants. I am proud of Winston’s participation and gratified by the hard work my colleagues brought to bear in the fight against rare cancers.” – Los Angeles Associate Jason Campbell
“The 24 members of Team WINston New York embraced the Cycle for Survival challenge, and the whole office rallied behind us to show their support. We were all pumped and ready for the ride on March 6, but it got sidelined due to Coronavirus concerns. That didn’t stop us from toasting our fundraising efforts and supporters, and we pledge to be back stronger next year.” – New York Partner Michael Moser
“Our office was thrilled to support such an important cause. This may have been our first year to participate in Cycle for Survival, but definitely won’t be our last.” – Washington, D.C. Partner David Rogers
“The incredible support from such a huge number of our colleagues at Winston energizes our team to raise funds and awareness to fight this terrible disease.” – Chicago Partner Patrick Doyle
We thank all of our team leaders, participants, and donors for helping Winston for Good truly make an impact on the lives of others.
