Winston’s Charlotte Office Provides Pro Bono Services to Vulnerable Community Members
Blog
October 12, 2022
On September 28, Winston & Strawn’s Charlotte Office participated in the fifth annual Charlotte Triage Pro Bono Partnership. The annual event brings together dozens of volunteers from local law firms and corporate legal departments to address critical legal needs for the most vulnerable members of the Charlotte community. At the event, attorney volunteers were provided training in one of five key areas: housing/eviction defense, human trafficking, healthcare enrollment, special immigrant juvenile cases, and criminal record expunctions. Afterward, volunteers had the opportunity to take on one or more cases in their area of focus.
With fourteen lawyers participating, Winston is proud to have had a significant presence at the event. Elizabeth Ireland is a current board member of the Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy (one of the main organizations leading this effort), and Patrick Doerr is championing efforts both at Winston and beyond regarding criminal record expunctions. Winston alumni also participated.
Thank you to Kobi Kennedy Brinson, Jack Cobb, Patrick Doerr, Starling Gamble, Elizabeth Ireland, Jack Knight, Stacie Knight, Alan Stevens, Stephanie Turner, Jeff Wilkerson, and Danielle Williams for volunteering.
