September 25, 2020
Our Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) team in London recently hosted a very special live experience where acclaimed art historian Rose Balston guided through the compelling gazes of three significant portraits: “unknown artist’s “Portrait of Elizabeth I of England, The Armada Portrait”, Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring”, and Artemisia Gentileschi’s “Self Portrait as the Allegory of Painting”. Guests came away with a re-invigorated understanding of what makes these portraits of powerful and charismatic women so impressive and inspiring.
We were delighted to be joined by friends, clients, contacts, and colleagues all over the world. With attendees from 9 different countries, it was genuinely a worldwide women’s webinar experience! Feedback from the event described it as “a breath of fresh air” and “beautiful” to be in a “cultural bubble for an hour, especially in the current context.”
We also gave a “shout out” at the event for our award winning pro-bono client Fashion Revolution, a not-for-profit global organisation with teams in over 100 countries around the world. Fashion Revolution works towards a vision of a fashion industry that conserves and restores the environment and values people over growth and profit. Founded in the wake of the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh, Fashion Revolution has become the world’s largest fashion activism movement, mobilising citizens, industry and policymakers through their research, education and advocacy work.
