Alessandra Swanson Discusses Thatcher James Swanson Memorial Foundation on ABC 7 News
March 10, 2023
Winston & Strawn Partner Alessandra Swanson and her husband Tony Swanson were recently featured on ABC 7 News where they discussed the mission of the Thatcher James Swanson Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit organization created to honor the memory of their son, who passed away suddenly in 2020. Alessandra and Tony created the foundation with a three-pronged mission in mind: to provide Chicago children with a good education, comfortable housing, and fun places to play.
Most recently the foundation sponsored an original exhibit at Chicago Children’s Museum at Navy Pier, where kids can create their own medieval-inspired stories to provide children with a fun place to play.
“There’s this beautiful place that demonstrates the kind of loving and fun spirit that he had,” said Alessandra.
To address their mission to provide children with a good education and safe housing, the foundation also funds a scholarship, named in honor of Thatcher, at Catherine Cook School as part of their diversity and inclusion program and sponsors quarterly moves through Digs With Dignity, a Chicago-based nonprofit that provides homes to families who are transitioning out of homelessness, with an emphasis on families with children.
