Amandeep Sidhu Receives the Distinguished Legal Professionals Award at the South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut’s 16th Annual Gala Awards

Winston & Strawn partner Amandeep Sidhu received the Distinguished Legal Professionals Award and gave the keynote address at the South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut (SABAC)’s 16^thAnnual Gala Awards on September 13, 2023, in Prospect, Connecticut. 

Formed in 2004, SABAC “serves as a resource to South Asian lawyers and law students for growth, professional development, networking, and community outreach.” A portion of the gala dinner proceeds are donated to the SABAC Endowed Fund, which awards scholarships to Connecticut area law students who have demonstrated a commitment to SABAC’s mission, and to the South Asian community and culture, through their personal and professional accomplishments.

Amandeep joined the revered list of past keynote speakers which includes Preet Bharara (Former US Attorney S.D.N.Y.), Sri Srinivasan (Chief U.S. Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit), Paul Grewal (Chief Legal Officer, Coinbase), Malini Moorthy (General Counsel, argenx), Gurbir Grewal (Director of Enforcement, SEC), and many more.

In addition to his practice, Amandeep dedicates his time to various pro bono causes, including protecting the interests of the Sikh community. As a co-founder of the Sikh Coalition, Amandeep has led lobbying efforts in the U.S. Congress regarding hate crimes, profiling, workplace, and public accommodation discrimination, and also serves as lead counsel in an ongoing effort to end the U.S. military’s presumptive ban on the service of observant Sikhs and other religious minorities.
