Bill O’Neil Discusses the Launch of Winston’s Virtual Law School Experience

Winston & Strawn Partner and Hiring Committee Chair Bill O'Neil spoke with Law360 about the purpose and launch of the Winston & Strawn Law School Experience.

“The primary driver and why we decided we wanted to do this was because we had noticed that large law firms were competing fiercely for a small pool of diverse legal talent,” he said. “And the idea behind this for us is increasing the size of the pool.”

The free, virtual course is designed to grow the pipeline of diverse legal talent by providing first-generation and diverse pre-law and law students, who often face inequitable access to resources, with additional tools and skills needed to succeed in law school and the legal profession.

“We're just trying to make a dent in what is a huge problem,” Bill told the publication. “I'm not here to tell you this is going to solve all the problems in the legal profession...but I'm hoping it's a significant, meaningful step in the right direction.”
