Chicago Staffs Annual Clinic to Assist Immigrant Crime Victims
October 31, 2019
A group of 21 Winston attorneys in the Chicago office recently participated in our annual U visa pro bono clinic to help immigrants who have been victims of crimes to file for immigration status. The clinic was led by pro bono partner the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC).
During the clinic, our volunteers were trained by NIJC on the U visa process and then had initial meetings with 11 clients, who are now well on their way to filing their U visa petitions. Our attorneys will continue to serve as pro bono counsel to these clients to complete the process of preparing and filing their U visa petition packets.
Thank you to the 2019 participants for making this annual pro bono initiative a continued success: Scott Ahmad, Kevin Boyle, Pat Boyle, Madalyn Brown, Russ Casper, Colleen Cavanagh, April Doxey, Linda Greene, Sam Lerner, Conor Reidy, Brian Schafer, Justin Trapp, Charles Vargo, and Marques Winick, who are pictured below with NIJC staff members Marisa LaBella, Trisha Teofilo Olave, and Sylvia Wolack.
