Cybersecurity 101: Best Practices for Attorneys to Protect Their Companies and Clients (And Themselves) in 2023

On September 20, 2023, Winston’s Regulated Personal Information Practice attorneys Kevin Simpson and Eric Shinabarger hosted a hybrid Cybersecurity 101 program that focused on cybersecurity trends and regulations affecting private practice and in-house attorneys and companies. The program included an overview and analysis of high-profile privacy and cybersecurity regulations, including requirements and compliance insights under the NY SHIELD Act, 23 NYCRR 500 (NYDFS Cybersecurity Regulations), NYC Biometric Law, state and federal wiretapping claims, and state privacy laws, as well as data breach response and more.
