Greg McConnell Discusses Winston’s Pro Bono Goals for 2022 in Law360
January 9, 2022
Winston & Strawn Senior Pro Bono Counsel Greg McConnell sat down with Law360 to discuss the Firm’s commitment to pro bono work and what lies ahead for the team.
Greg reflected on several of the Firm’s notable pro bono cases from the past few years, including the first permanent injunction in the United States blocking a state-wide mask ban and the country’s first permanent injunction requiring a prison to provide robust COVID-19 protections. He also outlined Winston’s pro bono priorities in 2022, which include an ongoing commitment from both the Firm’s transactional and litigation practices to combatting racial injustice and inequity, as seen through the $50 million investment into the CEASE Initiative.
“It’s exciting to not only think about major litigation issues, but also having a proactive, forward-facing way of addressing some of these societal disparities, and make something much better: not to litigate to correct a wrong, but to build a better system,” he said.
