On March 13-15, 2023, the Winston & Strawn Latin America Project Finance team—led by Partner Richard Puttré—participated in IJGlobal’s Latin American energy and infrastructure finance conference, IJ LATAM 2023.

Associate Juan Huertas was a featured panelist in the session titled “The State of Play: Risk Profiles in Major Markets,” which featured diverse voices in the industry, ranging from rating agencies to financing sources and sponsors. The session covered how recent elections in major regional markets—including Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Mexico—affected market openness and infrastructure pipelines. Key market participants recognized the uncertainty brought about by the political shifts and shared their experiences in managing it in order to continue their dealmaking activities. The prevalence and effectiveness of the rule of law emerged as a central element to consider when analyzing investment decisions in the region.
