Ivan Poullaos Named a “40 Under 40” by Chicago Lawyer

Litigation Partner Ivan Poullaos has been named one of Chicago Lawyer’s “40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch” in their 17th annual list recognizing rising stars of the Chicago legal community. Mr. Poullaos was selected for this honor from over 1,300 nominees and is included based upon nominations and comments from his peers.
The publication highlights Mr. Poullaos’ pro bono work for Heartland Alliance’s National Immigrant Justice Center. Mr. Poullaos, a native of Zimbabwe, recently became a U.S. citizen himself and understands the complexities of the U.S. immigration system and uses that to help others.
In addition, the publication recognizes Mr. Poullaos’ work on the trial team that achieved a victory on behalf of Teva Pharmaceuticals regarding the invalidity of a patent covering a generic version of the Hepatitis-B drug, Baraclude®. The publication also notes his significant patent trial victory involving the generic version of the drug Testim®.
When discussing Mr. Poullaos’ approach to his practice and his clients, one client notes: “Although he is a litigator, he takes the time to understand the client’s goals and find ways to meet those goals that maintain the integrity of the firm and my company.”

Mr. Poullaos concentrates his practice in patent litigation. His experience covers numerous technical areas, including mobile telecommunications, computer software, mechanical devices, as well as a particular concentration in pharmaceutical cases within the framework of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and the Hatch-Waxman Act for both brand and generic drug companies.
