On October 29, 2024, capital markets partner Keerthika Subramanian participated in an AI Governance panel hosted by Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz School of Business as part of its Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer Certificate Program. She was joined by Krishna Cheriath, Chief Data, Analytics, and AI Officer at Thermo Fisher Scientific's Clinical Research Group, and Matt DeVoe, VP and Chief Information Security Officer at Zoetis Inc.
Keerthika addressed the legal and commercial challenges Chief AI Officers face in public companies, particularly in the biotechnology, life sciences, and healthcare sectors, and offered practical solutions to address these issues. She emphasized the need for proper board and management oversight of AI use, noting that the AI regulatory landscape is rapidly evolving. To ensure effective oversight, she recommended that companies implement a three-tiered, bottom-up AI corporate governance framework.
