Michael Murphy Selected to Serve as Faculty at the ABA Litigation Section’s Diverse Lawyers Trial Academy
April 21, 2022
After hosting the inaugural Diverse Lawyers Trial Academy at Suffolk University Law School in Boston in November 2021, ABA’s Litigation Section held its second academy at the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law.
Houston Partner Michael Murphy was selected to serve as a faculty member during the two-day intensive training program. He joined Houston Partner Paula Hinton who currently serves on ABA Litigation Section’s governing board.
The Diverse Lawyers Trial Academy connects lawyers who have been historically underrepresented in civil proceedings with a faculty of experienced trial lawyers, in-house counsel, judges, and trial consultants. The program conducted one-on-one and group trial skills development sessions, from direct and cross-examination drills to closing argument workshops.
The program is designed to assist attorneys who far too often are not considered for First Chair roles in their quest to become trial lawyers. The training is available to diverse attorneys (racial and ethnic minorities, women, persons with disabilities, and persons who identify as LGBTQ+).
