Rafael Aguilar Speaks at the 13th Annual International Bar Association Real Estate Investments Conference

Winston & Strawn Miami Partner Rafael A. Aguilar participated in the 13^th Annual International Bar Association Real Estate Investments Conference, held in Santiago, Chile, from April 19-21, 2023.

Rafael spoke on a panel titled “Housing Markets Shortage vs. High Interest Rates,” which featured diverse voices in the industry, ranging from the former Minister of Urbanism and Housing of Chile, to the investment director of a global leader in rental housing, to the Chilean general manager of a global real estate brokerage firm. The session focused on the effect of increasingly high mortgage rates on median home prices in various markets throughout the world experiencing housing shortages. The participants recognized that, although the effect of high interest rates on home prices varied significantly by location, median home prices in general, particularly in the United States, remained relatively robust given low housing inventories and declined, if at all, less than expected.
