Mats Carlston and Tom Melsheimer Named to List of Lawdragon Legends of 2023

Winston & Strawn New York Managing Partner and Finance Practice Co-Chair Mats Carlston and Dallas Managing Partner Tom Melsheimer were named to the list of Lawdragon Legends of 2023. The list acknowledges attorneys who have been recognized with Lawdragon 500 distinction 10 times or more. 

Mats has more than 25 years of experience representing lead arrangers, agents, lenders, investors, sponsors, and borrowers in domestic and cross-border senior and junior financings, with an emphasis on leveraged buyouts and recapitalizations of private equity sponsored enterprises. He has represented domestic and international commercial and investment banks, finance companies, private equity funds, hedge funds, publicly and privately held corporations. Mats has represented portfolio companies in leveraged, high grade, and mezzanine financings, including acquisitions, working capital facilities, restructurings and workouts covering many industries, including hospitality, media and telecommunications, healthcare, retail, and energy.

Lauded by Lawdragon as one of the top trial lawyers in Texas, Tom has remarkably broad and extensive jury trial experience trying lawsuits in state and federal courts in Texas and throughout the country. On the civil side, he has tried to verdict cases involving patent infringement, trade secrets, insider trading, antitrust, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, product liability, and FCA violations. On the criminal side, he has tried to verdict cases involving bank fraud, public corruption, copyright infringement, aggravated sexual assault, and kidnapping. Tom’s jury trials include successfully representing plaintiffs and defendants all over the country and throughout Texas.
