Winston Achieves Mansfield Certification Plus Status for Fifth Consecutive Year
October 18, 2022
Winston & Strawn is pleased to report that we have earned Mansfield 5.0 Certification Plus status in recognition of the steps we have taken and the results we have achieved in terms of increasing diversity in our senior leadership ranks. An early adopter of the Mansfield Rule, Winston has achieved Certification Plus status every year since its inception in 2017.
Mansfield Certification is awarded to firms that adopt the Mansfield Rule, which requires law firms to affirmatively consider at least 30% historically underrepresented candidates—women, racial/ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and/or lawyers with disabilities—for partnership, senior lateral hires, and leadership and governance roles. In addition, for the first time this year, firms earning Mansfield Certification were required to consider at least 30% underrepresented lawyers when hiring and promoting to C-level or other senior-level professional staff roles and for nominations to Chambers USA.
More importantly, Winston has consistently earned Certification Plus status, which is awarded to firms that not only consider diverse attorneys for leadership roles but actually achieve diverse representation in their leadership ranks. We are proud of the fact that 50% of Winston’s U.S. offices are led by women and 30% by racial/ethnic minorities. Additionally, 35% of our Executive Committee is diverse.
Winston is currently participating in the Mansfield 6.0 evaluation that runs from July 2022 to July 2023.
