In 2019, Winston & Strawn attorneys helped NCAA players gain a limited victory in an antitrust suit over pay caps and also helped a doctor win the only full acquittal among numerous defendants in a fraud trial, earning Winston & Strawn a spot as a Law360 2019 Trials Group of the Year.
Jeffrey Kessler, Co-Executive Chairman & Co-Chair of Winston's Antitrust/Competition & Sports Law Practices, was part of a multi-firm effort that secured a limited win for the college athletes in March.
Dallas Managing Partner Tom Melsheimer secured the only acquittal among 9 defendants in a $40 million bribery and kickback scheme aimed at steering surgical patients to Forest Park Medical Center in Dallas.
