Winston & Strawn Partner Carrie Hardman Hosts the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) Fireside Chat

As Co-Chair of the Bankruptcy Affinity Group of the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL), Winston partner Carrie Hardman hosted a virtual fireside chat with Sam Katz, an executive producer and director of the documentary "Gradually Then Suddenly, the Bankruptcy of Detroit.” They discussed the making of the film about one of the largest municipal bankruptcies in American history, the city’s struggles during that time, and its path toward a new beginning.

Carrie and Mr. Katz had a vibrant discussion about the ins and outs of making the documentary, including some of the behind-the-scenes stories from interviews with key constituents in the Detroit bankruptcy. Mr. Katz also shared his thoughts on the future of Detroit and other struggling municipalities, and his hope for the future of the Motor City. Participants learned to keep a keen eye on the city in light of payments resuming to its two pension funds this year. The NAWL looks forward to hearing more from Mr. Katz, including his upcoming podcasts that will feature various municipal restructurings/bankruptcies.
