Winston Further Strengthens Litigation and Energy Capabilities in Houston With Addition of Seasoned Trial Lawyer
March 3, 2020
HOUSTON – Winston & Strawn LLP is pleased that leading trial lawyer Michael Murphy has joined the firm’s Houston office as a partner. Michael brings more than 15 years of experience advising energy industry clients on complex commercial litigation matters. His move to Winston adds to the firm’s comprehensive platform of services in Houston, which were bolstered with the recent additions of capital markets and M&A lawyers Eric Johnson and Mike Blankenship in January, as well as trial lawyer Jim Nye and dealmaker Jimmy Vallee in 2019.
“I was drawn to Winston & Strawn because of the firm’s unparalleled, global complex commercial litigation capabilities and high level transactional expertise in the oil and gas industry,” said Michael. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with a number of Winston’s top litigators in the past, and I am excited to now be a part of this highly regarded team.”
Michael joins Winston from K&L Gates, where he was the managing partner of the firm’s Houston office. He has extensive experience serving as first and second chair, in jury and bench trials, arbitrations and administrative hearings.
“We are consistently working to deliver comprehensive offerings to our clients in all major markets in the U.S., and to connect them with relevant teams and resources around the globe,” said Winston Chairman Tom Fitzgerald. “Michael is a seasoned trial lawyer whose expertise within the energy industry builds on the recent expansion of our energy M&A and private equity practices in Houston and Paris, as well as in our litigation group nationally.”
“Michael’s skillset and experience perfectly complement other recent additions in Houston, mirroring the increasing demand we are seeing from our energy sector clients for both litigation and transaction counsel,” added Houston Managing Partner. “We are thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
