Winston Listed in the Top 100 Arbitration Practices by Global Arbitration Review
May 19, 2020
Winston was recently named in the latest edition of Global Arbitration Review's GAR 100 survey as one of the world’s leading arbitration practices due to our “great litigators and arbitration practitioners.” Among Winston’s many successful arbitration cases, four stood apart and helped us secure a spot on the 2020 GAR 100.
First, Winston, led by practice chair Ricardo Ugarte, helped client Eskosol defeat a jurisdictional objection in its Energy Charter Treaty ICSID claim against Italy. Second, London partners Mike Stepek and Matthew Bate secured a win for a joint venture in an ICC case concerning a railway project based in Turkey. Third, Winston obtained a favorable settlement for a US private equity firm on the eve of hearings in an arbitration against its Chinese and Singaporean partners. And finally, we gained victories for a US pharmaceutical company in an ICC case over trademarks and the nutritional division of another US pharma company in a Swiss Rules case.
This is the latest in a long string of recognitions by the GAR—Winston has ranked among the GAR 100 since 2008. This consistency is the result of decades of experience representing clients in investor-state and international commercial arbitrations around the world.
