Winston Named Chicago Litigation Department of the Year for White-collar Defense by NLJ
August 25, 2014
Winston & Strawn was named the Chicago Litigation Department of the Year for white-collar defense by The National Law Journal. Within the firm’s 28-lawyer white-collar team in Chicago, there are many former assistant U.S. attorneys. With this background, the firm is aptly prepared to handle internal investigations or qui tam lawsuits, as well as criminal defense.
In the past year, Winston’s chairman Dan Webb, along with ten associates, reinvestigated a homicide involving the nephew of former Chicago mayor, Richard Daley. Mr. Webb served as Special Prosecutor in the matter which involved the death of David Koschman.
In addition to the Koschman case, law firms representing BP turned to Winston & Strawn's white-collar team when five different executives and high-level managers needed representation following the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
