Winston Named Finalist for American Lawyer's 2014 IP Litigation Department of the Year
January 2014
Winston & Strawn's intellectual property team was chosen as one of four finalists for The American Lawyer's 2014 IP Litigation Department of the Year.
The American Lawyer highlighted the firm’s $1 billion jury verdict for Monsanto, which earned IP chair George Lombardi the recognition of “Litigator of the Year,” and remarked that the group isn’t a “one-hit wonder,” also noting the firm’s work in Fujitsu v. Belkin, UMG v. Veoh, and before the U.S. Supreme Court in Novo v. Caraco.
Winston’s litigation team also earned an “Honorable Mention” in connection with the national “Litigation Department of the Year” competition, with The American Lawyer stating that “Winston not only tries cases…, it wins them too. The bigger the better,” citing the successes the team earned in the Monsanto, Caraco, and HealthSouth matters.
With these three awards, Winston & Strawn’s litigation department received the highest number of recognitions of any firm in the “2014 Litigation Department of the Year” issue.
