September 7, 2017
NEW YORK, NY – Winston & Strawn LLP is pleased to announce that John Servidio and Daniel Bley have joined the firm’s Derivatives and Structured Products Practice in the New York office. John joins the firm, as a partner, from McGuireWoods LLP. Dan joins, as an associate, from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP.
“John is a highly regarded practitioner who advises issuers and dealers in the most complex derivative and equity-based capital markets transactions,” said Dominick DeChiara, chair of Winston & Strawn’s Corporate Department. “His diverse background as a partner at a large firm, as a bank attorney and as a banking analyst is a tremendous asset to Winston and provides a unique perspective for our clients, and we welcome him to the firm.”
John represents dealers and issuers in structuring derivative and equity-linked capital market transactions. He advises clients on listed and OTC derivative documentation, as well as other agreements for securities, interest rate, currency, energy, and commodities trading. He also provides regulatory compliance advice to broker-dealers, swap dealers, alternative asset managers and end-users on SEC and CFTC regulations.
John was previously assistant general counsel at Bank of America Merrill Lynch for its sales and trading and capital market businesses, and has also been an analyst in the real estate group of a major commercial bank. He received his J.D. and M.B.A. from Pepperdine University and B.S.B.A from the University of Arizona.
Daniel Bley advises clients on a wide range of derivative and structured finance transactions, including loan facility total return swaps, deal-contingent swaps, CLOs, risk retention financing, distressed structured products, and regulatory capital solutions. For three years Daniel was in-house counsel at a major New York-based hedge fund, where his practice focused on structured products. He received his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and B.S. from Cornell University. Prior to law school, Dan was an aerospace engineer for the Department of the Navy.
“The addition of both John and Dan significantly enhances the depth and breadth of the already significant resources that we offer our clients in the derivatives and structured products space, particularly in the equities and energy markets. John is a trusted legal advisor to many broker-dealers and issuers, understands their needs from the inside and has built a reputation for seamlessly guiding clients through the most intricate derivatives and other capital markets transactions, Dan has a unique ability to dissect a structured product and distill it to its core” said Michael P. O’Brien, chair of Winston & Strawn’s Derivatives and Structured Products Practice. “Each is a great addition to our team and will be a valuable resource for our clients.”
