Winston & Strawn Shortlisted for IFLR’s 2018 European Awards

Winston was shortlisted for International Financial Law Review’s 2018 European Awards in the Project Finance and M&A Deal of the Year categories.

A Dubai- and London- based team was selected as a Project Finance Deal of the Year finalist for advising Electrogas Malta Limited on the development and financing of the Delimara 4 LNG to power project. The project is the first integrated LNG to power project in the world, where investors and financiers take the risk of sourcing LNG on a non-recourse basis. The London- and Dubai-based team acted as legal counsel throughout all aspects of the project, including advising on tendering, deal structuring, risk and bankability issues, competition law issues, and the large number of unique project and financing documents.

In addition, a London- and New York- based team was selected as an M&A Deal of the Year finalist for representing Yioula Glassworks S.A. in the sale of its glass container business to BA Vidro S.A. The complex cross-border transaction included a pre-sale group reorganization across seven jurisdictions, the redemption of a €185 million high yield bond, an innovative locked box deal structure, and mandatory tender offers in Bulgaria and Romania.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on April 19 in London.
