Winston & Strawn sponsored the USC Gould School of Law 2011 Intellectual Property Institute held March 22, 2011 in Los Angeles.
Jennifer Golinveaux, a litigation partner in the firm's San Francisco office, spoke on the copyright panel titled "ISP Liability: Viacom v. YouTube and Beyond." This presentation discussed to what extent ISPs should be required to reduce copyright infringement. Particular attention was paid to how this difficult issue is being handled by the U.S. courts and in the E.U. member states. Ms. Golinveaux was joined by Jan Bernd Nordemann, honorary professor of law at Humboldt University, and Stanley Pierre-Louis, vice president and associate general counsel intellectual property and content protection of Viacom Inc. Jeremy N. Williams, senior vice president and deputy general counsel of Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., moderated.
